You wanna start posting on twitter, you build stuff or are a developer, could be useful to get into the twitter thing to grow your project or just meet likeminded people. Here's the guide you're looking for. Heavily, heavily, opinionated guide.
Only post something if it's either:
Positive
Example: Someone posts something cool and you comment on it and say "that's cool"
Funny
You might think "I'm not funny", but truth is, there's stuff out there that you find funny, you have to post that, what you find funny, other people will find it funny too.
Educational
There are tons of things you know that you do on a daily basis that can become quick short tuts on twitter. Short videos, short tweets, it doesn't have to go into heavy detail. If someone has questions they can engage and ask them, it doesn't have to be perfect. Just post it. See if someone finds it useful.
Something you made
Just share it. Make a short video of how it works, write a short tldw and publish.
You posted 50 tweets and none took off, keep posting.
You posted 1 banger, don't go away for a month, keep posting.
Build → Post → Learn → Post → Find something funny → Post → See something cool → Post
Negative stuff
Example: some company does something you don't like and you decide to call it out
I know sometimes negative stuff is important, even more important than positive stuff, it is true and not everything in life is positive.
But twitter is really not the place, do you wanna open twitter to just see negative stuff? that would be big waste of time, so I recommend you do not post negative stuff. If you do you will be put into the negative stuff bubble, and twitter will be horrible and unusable.
Uncalled criticism
No one wants to listen to the guy that never does anything and just criticizes everything. Twitter is already full of those.
To criticize something you first have to gain credibility. To gain credibility you have to work a lot. By the time you've spent a lot of effort working on something you'll realize criticizing stuff is a waste of time.
Threads, spam tags, links, hashtags.
The algorithm will punish you and you may get some engagement but will get the wrong people around you. No spammy cringe threads, instead do conversations, no spam tagging 10 people in a tweet to get replies from big accounts, no links in first tweet (algo doesn't like it) and no hashtags (boomer).
That's it.
